Here are the crochet ravings of me, the projects I do, and items related to the site. I apologise Im not a great blogger, I have good intentions but get easily side tracked, especially by my crochet hook.

You remember the summer sky batch I did. Well this was the fibres from before.
And while I haven’t plyed it yet due to the Andean plying disasters. Which is what I would like to so with it but won’t S it’s nice. So will have to wind it onto another bobbin to ply it.

So. I got an as does knitters loom. It’s designed to portable and practical. Well. A little doubt on that.
First thing you do is attach the warp/length wise strings. There are a few way. The “easiest” is the method I tried where you attach the post provided so you can attach a string to the front of your loom and go back and forth. Anyone who is remotely alive should see the design flaw as demonstrated by this picture.
In case you don’t see the flaw. The post is on one end of a rectangle. The provided clamp the other. As you wind strings around the post despite no intentional tension it pulls the post. Because the post is only attached the other end it’s almost impossible given it has to be clamped sideways for it not to start turning and of course twisting out of its clamp. Leading to it then falling off and tangling the exact opposite of what you need.
This lead to one thread escaping so hence there is a flaw in my warp threads that can be seen one third in on the picture. Swearing was had. Due to the height of the loom on the stand it gave me incredible backache. So from start to sit down was about 2 hours!
Actually weaving is a fairly simple process. But I will need to work on plans before warping up again or get a friends assistance. So where a the pic of the finished item? Um. It’s not taken off the loom yet. It’s also very dull. Hopefully it’s long enough to be two tea towels. As I made it from cotton. If I’m really in the mood I may make a big cup of tea and take them off the loom this evening.

So. I had a lovely bobbin of merino.
It was a lovely single
Once again it spat in my face. It resisted plying and the active twist meant it tangled again. I ended up turning it into Navajo ply but that didn’t go as smoothly as I’d have liked
I hereby swear Andean plying can go do one. I’m never going to waste my singles on it again

So. This was done with otim fibres. Otim is a treated merino that’s even softer.

Bob and I set off in paxo the car after a out 15 minutes naming the sat nav as a worthless sack of ….. Because it decided the road I wanted wasn’t in the town I’m assured it’s in. And resisted a postcode entry.
Don’t worry it took me via every blasted roundabout it could. Given it was just short of 100 miles to my destination. The longest gap between roundabouts was 15 miles. Then 9, all the rest were less than 5 I think 3. Yes. There were a plethora of stinking roundabouts.
Finally. Got there. Spent a lovely time with Pam Austin who true to her word taught me to long spin and make it feel like I really knew what I was doing.
I’m so humbled by how well she teaches and makes it all so laid back and easy.
So. Ideas in hand along with a magazine and booklet she has written explaining what she went through today. For all of us who get home and swear we are doing what we did before but now it’s not working.
The drive home had very few roundabouts. I think 4. Sat nav got really frustrated. But look how good paxo did.

My new wheel arrived. He’s perfect. I had considered some names. But I can’t decide on a name.
He comes from Seth Golding. He is hand made. He is indeed a thing of joy.
A box of goodness.
Unboxed and only a couple of steps took him to ready for action
So. I grabbed my nearest fibre and had a play.
Lowest ratio. A mid ratio and a high ratio. I think highest is scary I did quickly try it and undid the spin as well it was faster than I expected or rather faster than I moved.
For size they are about 5″ long.
So. Ideas for names?

So. Unless I didn’t count right I got 15 puffs from 50g of yarn. So with 19 skeins that’s 285 puffs?

So. Took ages winding it off bobbin round my hand but it hates me. Didn’t even get to really plying this time. A bit about 10″ long was all that would escape from the start and then it broke. Luckily I could squeeze my hand out so tomorrow when in less annoyance with it I will have to wind it onto two bobbins and so it that way.
Why does Andean plying hate me so?
