You can never have too many hooks

Posted By on August 2, 2012

We were given a small bonus last month so, I have treated myself to more hooks. MORE? You ask? yes more.

What did I buy? Well I have more crochet hooks than is realistically necessary I know, but, the right tool for the right job right?

A few months back I bought some knitpro extending hooks, and I made the tardis blankets with them and Ive really really grown to love them. just because they are wood based and multi coloured but yet feel so super smooth.. So, I bought a standard set of hooks.

Cant wait to get them.

Rachel’s blanket day 1

Posted By on July 31, 2012

The middle is often the most rewarding as it grows quicker but a few hours. Around 3.5 later. This is where I’m at

Vote is in..

Posted By on July 31, 2012

For those who got their vote in, it was 5-2 for black. Except, Rachel herself decided on the colours.. so, as she has to live with it.. colours it is..

lets just hope it doesnt turn out too bad!

trying ideas for Rachel’s blanket

First was me doing a normal entralac. The second was working out how to do a square one. Lastly me trying a solid black with the varigated.

I like the black.

What do you think?

latest wool I got from red heart

Posted By on July 28, 2012

I was incredibly disappointed with the fall coloured wool from red heart as nothing I did with it looked nice it constantly looked untidy. However. This new stuff is cool. Oh. I forgot the black one. Darn it. I got black too.

The few things I tried with the brown variegated worked because it goes from cream to chocolate.

Pretty. I hadn’t realised just how much bigger the plain colours were. The normal robin DK I buy is 100g a ball and that gets me about 300m of wool. The variegated colours in this are 141g and 223m so its heavier wool and the plain is nearly 200g and 333m. The plain ones are super soft to touch.

So in fairness the variegated balls won’t go as far as my normal ones. So I hope 10 will be enough.

Tardis blanket number 2 – crochet done!

Posted By on July 25, 2012

I am so glad to say this. But the crochetting is finally done. I am annoyed with the obvious mistake. But. Its done. If anyone wants one. Please wait at least 6 items in before asking me to make another. Or I will burn it.

argh!

Tardis blanket update

Posted By on July 13, 2012

Following the debate over whether to unpick or not, I havent posted any updates, I have however been working on it.. Here was me, its 2.25am, and I was going to go to bed after taking a photo, to discover the stupid phone is out of juice so bad, even plugged in, the idea of flash caused it to die quickly.. 🙁

So, I waited to try and get life out the phone..

I did get side tracked trying to decide on a pattern to do with my new red heart wool, having never had this wool, its slightly thicker, not a lot, but a bit, than Im used to and feels different, I know what I originally wanted to do with one, but first effort wasnt effective, it didnt look as nice as I hoped. I then tried mixing it with a white I had doing alternate rows in an interesting way, it looked OK, but, the white is a lot thinner it seems so didnt work right, it looked better in knit stitch in alternating rows but thats a terrible waste of yarn!

I wanted to do diamonds but my brain keeps messing up the counts, I tried cables, that didnt look right either, or bobbles..

red heart wool finally arrived
