Quick lap blanket
So, I havent finished sewing the ends, but I started – however, I only started this friday! If I hadnt gone to class yesterday I probably would have finished the sewing of ends. Its not a great picture, but its OK.
Its 33” by 25”
Wow, Liz…that is fantastic! I love it!! Seriously, you did a wonderful job on it!
That is beautiful! Crochet? knit? You said you started it on Friday!?
Very nice, looks like afghan stitch??
Yep always crochet and yes its afghan stitch. Once I've sewed the ends in I may add a border in the blue and white I think it took nearly as long to wind the balls of wool as it did to make. Here in England wool balls aren't like the red heart ones they are outside feeds only and if you don't wind them on a winder to make centre pull ones they roll round tie in knots and collect a lot of dog fur no matter how much I hoover(dyson before Petey says something). I know one thing I think would work as a border but right now I can't imagine how to make it. I've seen interlocking circles was thinking that or a snake of like a cable but again it would be hard to make that look right.
I just ordered a winder and swift. Some of the hand dyed yarns I get are like that, roll all over. I'm sure you will come up with a border, you're clever about those things. =)
Thanks. I wouldnt say I was clever, I have in my head ideas but Im not sure I can always make them work, see Ive seen some nice stuff, as I say like interlocking circles, but, I almost want to make strips of say DC crochet, and then plat them or something. Im sure I'll end up with something far less exceiting.
Hello Liz,
Lovely work! Do you have a pattern for this beautie?
Thanks!
Alizandria
Hi, As per my “How did I do that” section, I do sort of have a pattern, but, it would be easier if you made one yourself, to the size you wanted. Most of the sizes of my stuff is very hit and miss and it depends a lot on the wool you have available – this was done in a mixture of Robin Bonny Babe DK and a Robin DK rainbow print.
In this case, I googled for images on “celtic knot” there was another knot I intended to do a more complex one, but I settled for this in the end. Im glad I did. I also intend to do a triquettra one too. But I havent decided on what colours to do.
Im also contemplating trying to do some form of irish crochet in a kinda cardigan style way, but I dont feel thats gonna be something Id look good in, so I may not do that (Id look stupid in something delicate)
Please help me here I see this DC on things and I don't understand what it means.
DC = Double Crochet (US term) eg, yarn over, hook through, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, pull through 2, stitch complete.
YOu know what it is the DK that I don't understand. But I think that has to do with Knitting.
Ah, thats a UK wool type DK = Double Knitting, its around light worsted in the US I believe.
Wow! I love this!! My bf is crazy about Celtic knots and i just finished a hat for him a few days ago… I was debating on making a blanket for him and I was scouring the internet to get that extra motivation I needed and here it is!! It looks absolutely wonderful! I’m definitely going to make this next!!
Thanks for the inspiration! Stop by and oogle my celtic knot hat if you get a chance! I will definitely be stopping by more in the future!
Its hard not to like celtic knots I think Brenda. Will take a look at yours thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you liked it
