How to make your own patterns

Posted By on April 9, 2012

It has come to my attention that myspace, have eaten the old images I did in a blog post a while back which were linked here to my blog, so, at some point I need to redo them! grr. I will explain how to do it again, and redo the post on here, explaining as best I can.

If you have any questions you would like answered – please, drop a comment here!

Some recent pictures

OK I mentioned I am doing another version of the summer breeze summer jacket I made before. I have a close up of a section here

I also mentioned knooking..

I also have a frontpost/backpost alternating row blanket on the go it looks like this

Finally, a small swatch for a laugh of crochenit, which is tunisian but where you alternate ends of a double ended hook to achieve a 2 colour odd look like this:

This was done as pick up blue posts with blue, and always second pass in black, leaving a very even and interesting look – nice for edges I think.

Knooking?

Posted By on March 24, 2012

So, I got in my mail this week saying “Learn to Knook” so Ive had a look.

In short you knit but with a crochet hook and cord/string rather than a second needle, realistically that is litterally what you do, its not crochet, its knitting with a hook and string. you create loops like you would if you had a knittng needle, and they stay on the hook, once you get to the end you slide them onto the cord, and repeat exactly as if it was a needle..

So not quite the revolution we thought, one thing that is difficult is keeping a nice even tension in the rows.. I also had a bit of a habbit to twist the stitch because I wanted to do more crochet style than knit.

Summer Breeze – the return

Posted By on March 24, 2012

Previously I made a summer top from coats and clark called summer breeze, can be found here

Im going to make another, this time slightly longer body..

So, what to do next?

Posted By on January 7, 2012

Now that ugly blanket is done, Im left with the puzzle of what to do next.

A friend is designing a blanket pattern for me, from which I will need to do 2! but, until they are done, Im at a loose end. I want to crochet but have no specific item to make. If you think of my wool stash you will be surprised to hear, my main fear is “I dont have the wool for it”.. I have some ideas but I fear I wouldnt have enough wool!

Almost done. Ends and border to go.

Posted By on January 2, 2012

So. There we have it. Its almost perfectly square. Almost. I have ends to sew, want to go round the edge with the green I used top and bottom, and then its done. So, with any luck tomorrow evening after work, it might be done and I can start a new project.

latest pic. Sorry Ive been quiet

So, heres a picture of this blanket its now 52″ long, it also seems its nearer 62″ wide, so its obviously relaxed a little. So, once I get nearer to 59″ Im gonna do another green line and make the other end of the border thing I did tat the beginning.

Im a little frustrated, the single crochet work on this is tedious, it grows very slowly. I cant claim I will be choosing to do this again in a hurry. Dont get me wrong, it is perfectly double sided, but, I am so fed up of it. Im glad I found someone to give it to when Im done, but its so slow growing its horrid.

Happy Christmas all!

I know Ive been a bit quiet recently, Im still doing the mosaic crochet blanket, I may have found a recipient for it which is a good thing. However.

While this isnt crochet related

I passed my black belt in karate 🙂

Ive worked for over 5 years for this, and Im so pleased to have done it. I have been working hard for this, so, Im sure you’ll understand I was busy perfecting than posting.

mosaic crochet continues to grow

Posted By on September 27, 2011

So. Usual disclaimer as the photo was taken with my phone but for scale. It is 53″ by 20″.

I also apologise for it not being rotated.. normally it works that out for me and WP cant seem to rotate an image.. sigh.

mosaic crochet continues

Posted By on September 11, 2011

Well. The mosaic crochet continues. Each row is around 260 stitches and each stripe consists of 2 rows. Being done in mosaic style it is exactly the same on both sides.
