Here are the crochet ravings of me, the projects I do, and items related to the site. I apologise Im not a great blogger, I have good intentions but get easily side tracked, especially by my crochet hook.

Moonstone blanket

Posted By on October 25, 2013

It’s going to be a slow weekend, so, I thought I had better post it now in case this is the last I get to do. I have to work this weekend, and it don’t know how much yet.

So, it’s growing, slowly but growing.

I thought I had done well this weekend, but, it doesn’t look like it.. Sigh. Added the tape measure so you have a sense of scale.

While I spent a lot of the weekend knitting. It doesn’t look grown much. I think that’s row 9 I just finished.

I had to get a longer cable for it to fit more comfortably. But here you can see on the bit I straightened out the first 3 rows of pattern.

The “wrong side” row is much quicker as you just knit what ever the stitches are they only change on the “right” side

I do hope that it will be much clearer by the end of the weekend. ? ,b,b, b,b,b,b,b

blanket row 3

Posted By on October 10, 2013

Ok. At this stage yes I’m still counting rows. Mainly because I’m now on the first row of pattern which you can just make out. This is definitely going to be a long term project in that I’ve not completed 3 rows in 2 evenings and at estimation there are going to be some 400 plus rows. So if I say 5 rows in 3 days. That would be 240 days? Ouch. Although hopefully progression at the weekend may help.

I may have to splice in some short projects to keep that finishing feeling to hand.

doesn’t look much does it? Well. This should be 762 stitches. Yes. That’s a fair few. I so hope I can count! I guess I find out in a couple of rows if the pattern doesn’t fit right. But there you go. In short the provisional cast on and then the first real row of my blanket. I sure hope I got it right. It took a long long time to do that one row!

I have some new knitting needles. These are made by hiya hiya. Unlike all the others the cable join can rotate with these which should help a lot with the strain on the joins and prevent them from undoing.

So. Here’s to hoping I got the count right!

Double knitted moonstone scarf completed!!!!

Ok, the bind off was far harder than knitting the thing! It’s simple and yet complicated, hard to explain, it’s like snooker, the principals of the bind off are logical and simple, achieving them is not!

I’m really proud of my scarf, it looks ace. Now all I need are a hat and mitts to go with for winter and that blanket based in it is calling too!
