Counting the costs..

I wish I had enough money to give up working and crochet for a living – much as I stuff up and its annoying occasionally nothing like the stress of being at work.

But and heres the issue:

A 6ft by 4ft blanket, costs only around 14 odd pounds to buy the wool.

However, if you then take into account hours worked, at minimum wage, 5.80 an hour, if I can do one in roughly 2 weeks and the hours Im putting in thats gotta be somewhere around 50-60 hours a week, err thats 290 per blanket, + wool. so, if you say between 300 and 350 pounds, would anyone seriously pay that much for a blanket?? I doubt it..

Thus why I guess I cant ever give up work to crochet.

Imagine, in a perfect world, I would food shop all day, throwing spinach and bread at my boys, you would crochet blankets as long as you were awake, and Gordon Browne would simply just piss off….

You know the dimensions theory right?

  3. Liz Kimber says:

Pfft what kinda edumakation did you get?OK, dimensions theory, for every decision ever made a new dimension splits off so there are are an infiniate number of other dimensions where all the alternatives play out..

I got a Catholic Education. For every decision you make, you will burn in hell for ever unless you part with some of your hard-earned and say 93 hail marys. Or stick you arse in the air for the lovely priests. Or both.

🙂 haha, yeah that too. But it does mean, somewhere out there, its actually a possibility that Gordon Brown isnt where he is, and you and I are doing exactly what we wanted.

There could not be two of me; there isn't enough raw material to make that many eyebrows!

  7. Liz Kimber says:

pfft, hey in another dimension you could be eyebrowless!

  8. Pete Morgan says:

I wouldn't be me without eyebrows! That's like being Gordon Browne and not being a twat!

To be honest, the dimensions theory is all that gives me hope atm, that somewhere bad decisions didnt happen or other decisions when made my life harder didnt happen and that out there is a) one seriously more miserable Lizb) one seriously happy Liz

Hmmmm,An american friend of mine once said to me "If life throws you lemons, make lemonade". Whilst it sounds a bit wanky, it is sort of true. Re blankets, what do they go for on eBay?

  11. Liz Kimber says:

naff all. Most Ive ever seen em go for is about 35 quid

There is a cottage industry there somewhere though…… The Garden Centre near me sell things like that.

its odd though think about it, if someone makes hand made furnature, its considered a good thing, if someone makes hand made clothes its like cheap and shabby.. crochet people view the nasty granny squares stuff and wouldnt wipe their butt on it.
